Product information

All about brown almonds natural

Almonds are very healthy! They contain plenty of protein, minerals, vitamins and calcium. The almond also consists of 70% monounsaturated and 30% saturated fatty acids. Almonds are known for the large amount of antioxidants they contain. The almond is rich in the antioxidant vitamin E. Antioxidants can play a role in preventing cardiovascular disease and cancer, and in slowing down the ageing process. The magnesium in almonds is good for stronger bones and plays a role in various enzyme processes in the body. Like all nuts, almonds are rich in unsaturated fat. For further information we refer you to the Nutrition Guide.

The almond tree grows in a subtropical climate. It can therefore be found in regions such as the United States (over 80 percent of almonds come from California), North Africa and countries such as Greece, Turkey, Spain and Italy.

The almond is the seed of the almond tree, which grows in countries with a Mediterranean climate. The almond tree is closely related to the plum and peach tree.

After the fruit has been harvested, the nuts are dried in the shell for 8-10 days. They are then transported to the factory, where they are cracked and washed. They are also sorted by size and blanched. Almonds are blanched because this makes the skin come off more easily. Most of them are then shelled and sold with or without the skin. Almonds are also sold in other forms, such as flakes, slivers, pieces, ground almonds and almond paste.

Natural nuts are unroasted nuts. Natural nuts are delicious in stir-fries, in recipes and in muesli. However, natural nuts are chewier than roasted nuts. For that reason, roasted nuts are often (though not always) considered tastier.
