All about pecan nuts natural

Pecans are a good source of B vitamins and lysine-poor proteins. They are also rich in calcium, iron and magnesium and have a high content of unsaturated fatty acids. They are used in numerous desserts, such as the famous 'pecan pie'. For more information, take a look at the Nutrition Guide.

Natural nuts are unroasted nuts. Natural nuts are delicious in a stir-fry, in recipes and in muesli. However, natural nuts are chewier than roasted nuts. For that reason, roasted nuts are often (though not always) considered tastier.

America, Mexico and South Africa.

Pecans grow on a tree that can reach a height of no less than 55 metres. It belongs to the walnut family. The tree bears elongated, oval nut fruits. The pecan has a two-year cycle: every other year there is a large harvest. The fruits are reddish brown with dark brown stripes and are comparable to the walnut.

The pecan has a wonderfully sweet flavour. The seeds are eaten raw, but they can also be salted or roasted. Oil is also extracted from the nut. This oil is suitable for consumption, but is mainly used in cosmetic products such as soap. Nuts that are still in the shell keep for about six months. It is best to store them in a dry and cool place. For longer keeping, it is best to store them in the refrigerator.
